“I can do it all by myself”: Toddlers learning to use the Spoon

Messy is always Fun at Kids Edu Caring Place! Our big baby boys are learning self help skills as infants and early toddlers. Yes, we do let them get a little messy! It’s all about setting the space for our little ones to explore feeding themselves with utensils instead of fingers.

The CDC says, “Babies can start to use a spoon by themselves at around 10 to 12 months old. Your child will continue to get better at using tools like spoons and forks. Give your child a chance to use spoons and forks—even if it is messy.”

So how do we encourage our kids to use a spoon to feed themselves? With lots of patience, tons of encouragement (… and a bucket of water ready for cleaning up). Here at Kids Edu Caring Place we’ve created a unique experience incorporating The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and Healthy Beginnings in our enrichment programs. Call us today for a tour of our center 410-433-3186, we accept infants to children age 12.

Our babies are truly growing up right before our eyes. Proud preschool over here!
